JOB SUMMARY:

Directs and coordinates engineering resources with a strong focus on commercializing new products. Partner with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, and Customers to identify and solve market problems that are urgent, pervasive, and where customers are willing to pay for a solution. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers to champion the innovation process by vetting technologies, ideas & solutions that leverage Garlock’s capacities.

Key metrics include the Total Estimated Opportunity Value of the Commercial Pipeline and New Product Sales.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Proven business leader with excellent engineering leadership experience.
  • Reviews and analyzes design input requirements to assist in developing the necessary information to review and analyze potential projects or similar.
  • Leads engineers tasked with projects in the design and development of new products and prototype processes, in developing requirements for manufacturing engineering to implement capable production processes, and in developing the necessary technical information for the marketing launch (commercialization) of new products.
  • Actively manages resource allocation in support of product development programs.
  • Plan, organize, and, direct the budget and the spending for the Engineering group.
  • Drives excellence in project management to establish this as a core competency.
  • Collaboration with vendors and internal supply chain personnel (for supplier development) is necessary.
  • Capacity to foster confidence in our technical capabilities and back that confidence up with excellent results from self and team.
  • Ensure we have appropriate engineering processes, systems, tools, infrastructure, and sufficient internal controls to meet the customer and operational support needs of the company and to comply with Quality requirements.
  • Represent Garlock during customer embedding, customer visits, trade events and professional societies.
  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and train employees in the engineering team with the objective to help each reach full potential including succession planning and career path mapping.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering
  • Graduate Degree in Engineering or Business preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years Managerial Experience w/ resource allocation experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to influence without authority and present to executive management
